Five awesome things lately

I’m going to list five things that are awesome and I have experienced recently. I want to do this more often to keep on top of recent awesome-type happenings.

1. I finished sewing the most epic backpack ever (it’s lined with rainbows) and it’s perfect. I’m making a lunchbox to match next.

2. I started watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Enjoying it so far for its differences from the first series, and excited to see where it goes next.

3. Got to see lots of awesome people this week because I’m moving to CA soon. It’s sad to say goodbye to them, but it’s always fun to see them.

4. I rediscovered the “Chicago” movie soundtrack while driving through hellish rush hour traffic and it made all the traffic okay.

5. New webcomic! Ellie on Planet X makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Okay, that was good. I will see you guys tonight. :)

Complications with my extractions

So, it’s been kind of a rough week here at Casa Octopod. I’ve been laid up on the couch in my parents’ living room, eating all the mushy foods I can find, and dealing with pain that wasn’t responding to any of the painkillers I have (including Vicodin). It was radiating down my jaw from one extraction site through all my teeth that were still present and throbbing. Gently throbbing, but consistent. It made getting a whole night of sleep nigh impossible.

Today I went back in to the doctor with the understanding that this was probably not normal. And my doctor removed the suture, cleaned the wound, and packed it with eugenol (derived from clove oil). It was hell as it was happening and for about thirty minutes after, and then the eugenol kicked in. And life was wonderful.

In conclusion, my mouth is no longer a writhing ball of agony contained in my mortal form and I finally feel pretty good. I’m still chilling on the couch and recouperating, but getting back to speed at last. Expect comics to resume as usual on Sunday. Sorry about this week.

Yesterday I got my wisdom teeth out…

Among other complaints I have, the two major ones I have right now are my inability to swallow and my severely lacking capacity for remaining vertical. In other words, I can’t eat/drink very much and I can’t stand for more than about five minutes without getting faint and nauseated. I iced my face all yesterday, but I’m still pretty puffy-looking. The cat has been keeping me company and also drinking from my water glasses (because he’s a turd).

So there might not be a comic today, which sucks and I’m sorry.

Also, I didn’t even get to see the teeth they removed! I was pissed about that even when I was barely coherent from the general anesthesia. :(

This…this is very midsummer madness

I am way updating the site. Like crazymonsters. I am doing this with a lot of help. For example, the programmer of ComicPress (he’s on Twitter as @Frumph and he’s SUPER nice) has helped me a couple of times during desperate crazy moments yesterday.

So yesterday I gave up and today I went back to fix all this mess. It’s been pretty epic. I finally feel like this looks less blog and more comic? Octopod Adventures is not a traditional comic, but at least it’s wearing its webcomic costume now. Nothing like showing up in the wrong kind of outfit to the party.

I’m pleased with it. There’s a lot left (like, say, 300 more posts I have to edit) to do, but it’s a start.

There’s no comic. I’m a failure.* But I do bring you the finest pickings of the internet I could get!

Game: OH man. Have you played Lesbian Spider-Queens of Mars? Because if not, don’t. It’s really addictive and you’ll lose an hour of your life.

Video: Set your mind. There are ponies. They are space cowboy ponies. That’s what happens in this absolutely stunning video mash-up of the Serenity movie with one of the latest incarnations of My Little Pony. It’s so good I can’t put words to my emotions.

And finally, best image I’ve seen on the internet today: a picture of a burrito bowl. ‘Cause I’m hungry.

*I’m getting ready to go get a learner’s permit tomorrow. I’ll be able to drive a vehicle. Trust me, you want me spending time on that rather than the comic.
